SAMWU Mafika Mshengu Region mourns the passing of its eMkhambathini Local Municipality Secretary.

The South African Municipal Workers’ Union (SAMWU) has learnt with great sadness and heavy hearts that the untimely passing of one of our Shop stewards, Comrade Sandile Ndimande . Cde Ndimande unfortunately succumbed to injuries he sustained after being stabbed on the head yesterday. At the time of his unfortunate passing away, Cde Ndimande served as the union’s eMkhambathini Local Municipality.

SAMWU in the region sends its heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the Ndimande family during this difficult time. The family is mourning two siblings at the same time, Cde Ndimande’s brother who stabbed him with a spear later charged at police who were there to arrest him and was unfortunately shot and killed. We wish the Ndimande strength and solace during this difficult time that they are going through.

We thank the family for lending us Cde Ndimande and allowing him to fulfil his passion of serving the interests of the working class, in particular those of municipal workers. We trust that the family will find strength in knowing that the entire workforce at the eMkhambathini Local Municipality and SAMWU are mourning with them.

We further send condolences to his friends, colleagues and members of the union whom he served diligently since his election into office.

May the revolutionary spirit and soul of Cde Ndimande rest in peace!
