SAMWU Mourns the Passing Away of Mama Winnie Madikizela-Mandela
The South African Municipal Workers’ Union (SAMWU) is devastated at the news of the passing of struggle Icon Mama Winnie Madikizela-Mandela who passed away on the 02 April in a Johannesburg hospital.
The history of this great country cannot be written without mentioning her name, this is a woman who was a fearless fighter to the end, a woman embodied great character and great compassion for South Africans and her desire to see a democratic South Africa which all could live side by side.
We lower our banners in remembering the great woman that Mama Winnie was, a champion of human rights and women emancipation. SAMWU sends its heartfelt condolences to the Madikizela and the Mandela families along with the entire country as her loss is a loss to their entire nation which is mourning this great icon.
