SAMWU Mourns the Passing of Comrade Cedric Gina

The South African Municipal Workers’ Union (SAMWU) is saddened at the news of the passing away of Comrade Cedric Gina, the former General Secretary of our sister union, the Liberated Metalworkers’ Union of South Africa (LIMUSA).

Comrade Gina is also former President of the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) before being the founding General Secretary of LIMUSA passed away at a Durban hospital this morning.

We will forever remember Comrade Gina for the selfless sacrifices he made for the South African working class, particularly the country’s metalworkers whom he fought tirelessly including ensuring that they have a home and defender of workers’ rights in the form of LIMUSA.

SAMWU sends its heartfelt condolences to the Gina family during this difficult time of great loss, we further send condolences to the country’s metalworkers and LIMUSA as they mourn their founding General Secretary.
May his selfless spirit rest in peace.
