SAMWU WISHES SACCAWU A PROGRESSIVE 12TH NATIONAL CONGRESS.

SOUTH AFRICAN MUNICIPAL WORKERS UNION (SAMWU) wishes South African Commercial Catering and Allied Workers Union (SACCAWU) a progressive 12th National Congress. The Congress shall take place at The Lakes Hotel in Benoni from the 21st to the 24th of November 2023.

This congress is taking place at the backdrop of capitalists’ onslaught of workers in this sector. With no economic recovery in sight, this is the industry that workers become first casualties of a failed free market economic system.

We wish that the congress express itself on issues of economic depression in South Africa. We are also certain that the congress would discuss issues of mass dismissals at Makro and other big retailers, which business (employer) is making it a norm to shed jobs in this fashion.

Children and women are being killed in Gaza, Palestine. We are hoping that the congress would resolve on intensifying the campaign against Zionist apartheid Israeli state. It cannot be business as usual for a state that has violated international humanitarian law.

Have fruitful engagements that would not only build SACCAWU, but the entire working class. Close
ranks, jealously guard and protect your organization.
